A collection of ideas for clinicians to consider
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is offered through brief intervention for Anxiety and Depression. Referrals are often received from Primary Health Organisations, Pinnacle Midlands and National Hauora Coalition. GPs who are also registered with these PHOs may refer clients if eligible. These 4-6 sessions are funded.
4-6 funded sessions are available for people who have experienced a loss by suicide. Depending on the situation, some people may be able to access up to 10 sessions. You can access these sessions and other counselors at this website. You can also self refer.
Professional Supervision is offered to other Occupational Therapists who work in mental health and other disciplines who work in the same area. Previously, Marina has worked with education units within prison to provide employment support for teachers using professional supervision theory and practice.
Sometimes people are unsure of what they need to access different resources. Sometimes people are unsure of how to prepare for particular appointments. Advocacy work empowers the client to identify barriers to engagement and safely develop a way to access solutions needed to improve one's health.
Diversity is most welcome and Marina has strategies that help people with Autism, ADHD, ADD feel at ease. Many ways this population processes information are misunderstood, so taking the time to observe the way the neurodiversity presents, we can use different tools to understand how a person processes emotion, communicates and finding ways to work with a mind that jumps all over the place. Screening assessments can also be talked through along with support to find an assessor.
